Welcome to the Cottage!

Wesley at UVA owns a house right next door to our main building. It is called the Cottage, and four students get the chance to live there each year! Are you interested in being a Cottage resident? Check out the FAQs below.

How much does it cost to live in the Cottage?

Rent is $700 a month. Leases are for one year. If you aren’t going to be on Grounds over the summer, you are welcome to sublease your room with the approval of our Board of Directors.

Is there parking?

Yes, there is a parking lot right behind the house. Parking is an additional $25 per month.

What amenities does the Cottage have?

Each resident gets their own bedroom. There are two bathrooms, which means you will share a bathroom with one other resident. There is also a shared kitchen and living room space and an in-unit washer and dryer.

How do I apply to live in the Cottage?

Any undergraduate or graduate student connected with Wesley at UVA is welcome to apply. Applications come out each fall. To get an idea of what the process looks like, here is last year’s application.

Do residents have any additional responsibilities?

The four students living in the Cottage take the communal Wesley trash and recycling to the curb each Monday and wash the dish towels from Wesley every other week. Residents often enjoy hosting a few events at the Cottage for Wesley at UVA each year! Students in the Cottage also make a community covenant at the beginning of the academic year, allowing them to set expectations for their time together.

If you have additional questions, please feel free to email Devon.
