Wesley this Week…

Hello Everyone,

I just want to say that I am super excited to be the new president of Wesley! Stephen has left me some big shoes to fill, but I’m up for the challenge! I am looking forward to leading you all, and I think it will be a great year. Sunday, March 25

8:30am – Worship Troupe visit to First UMC

11:00 am — Worship at Wesley Memorial UMC

5:00 pm – Informal worship at the Foundation.

8:00pm – IM Frisbee! Meet at the Foundation at 7:30pm for a ride or get to the Park at 8. Be sure to bring your student ID!

Monday, March 26

Deborah out for sermon prep and study

11-2ish — Lunch at the Pav (Part I) –Meet in back room of Pavilion XI on the lower level of Newcomb. If you can’t make it at 12, that’s fine! Lunch will continue as long as people are there, so you can still come at 1 pm if you have class!

6:00pm – Nehemiah Action Rally at JPJ – This year’s focus is the unemployment rates facing young adults. Sign-in begins at 6pm and parking is free!  The event will begin at 6:30pm. Some of you may have already received tickets from Wesley Mem, but there will be tickets at the door the evening of the event.  If you have any questions related to specifically to the event, please contact Andy Thomas at Wesley Mem for more information.

7:00pm—Women’s small group 1-Meet in the living room.

8:15pm—Methodists with Muscles—Meet in the game room for a devotional then we will play tennis if it is nice out or basketball (or some other indoor sport) if not. Bring a racquet if you have one and your student ID.

Tuesday, March 27

Deborah at Board of Higher Education meeting all day

11:00-2ish — Lunch at the Pav (Part II) –Meet in back room of Pavilion XI on the lower level of Newcomb.

6:00pm—Women’s small group 2-Meet in the living room.

7:00pm—Delta Force—Men’s small group. Led by Kellen Hertz and Kemper Steffe Meet in the gameroom.

8:00pm–Grad Group–Let by Abel Yang. Meet in the gameroom.

8:15—Free Verse-Meet in the Upper Room

Wednesday, March 28

5:30pm—Yoga—Free-drop in yoga class for the university community. We have mats so just wear comfy clothes.

7:00pm–“An Altar in the World” – a book study led by Deborah that will be meeting in the Upper Room. If you’re planning on going make sure to pick up a book from the upper room.

8:00pm—Women’s small group 3-Meet in the living room.


Thursday, March 29

Deborah’s office hours are from 4-6pm today. Email her to meet at other times.

6:00pm — FREE Dinner.

7:00pm—Forum—Led by UVA English professor Lisa Russ Spaar, “They that watch for the morning”: Insomnia as Epiphany and Vision will explore sleeplessness and spirituality.  Is there another way to view insomnia?  As it flirts with the veils between sleep and waking, might the experience open up new ways of seeing and being in the world?”  This forum will allow its participants to consider these questions while looking at several poems about insomnia across culture and time, including poems by Lisa Russ Spaar. If you haven’t already, be sure to pick up one of the free poetry books by Spaar from the Foundation!

8:15pm – SCC meeting

Sunday, April 1 – Palm Sunday!

11am worship at Wesley Memorial UMC

5pm informal worship at the Foundation
