This Week at Wesley…

Hi everyone!

This is just the first of many “This Week at Wesley” emails for the year! In case you’re new to our mailing list, I send out emails every weekend with the Wesley Foundation’s list of events being offered throughout the week. Some email reminders will also be sent out throughout the week by the hosts of the events. Also for your information: the Wesley Foundation is open daily from around 9:00 am till midnight. Feel free to do some work in Study Camp, play Rock Band in the gameroom, etc.

Here’s what’s happening at Wesley this week:

Sunday, August 29
11 am — Worship service at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church
5 pm — Informal Worship at the Wesley Foundation — Dining Room
Monday, August 30

12-2ish — Lunch at the Pav — Meet in back room of Pavilion XI on the lower level of Newcomb. If you can’t make it at 12, that’s fine! Lunch will continue as long as people are there, so you can still come at 1 pm if you have class!
1-3 pm — Deborah’s drop-in office hours: e-mail her to meet at other times (deborahATwesleyatuva.org)

8 pm — Faces of Faith (Group 1) — A small group for first-year undergrads, led by Kemper Steffe (kws3cb) and Elizabeth Mathews (ecm2wp). We are offering three different sessions so that you may find one that fits your schedule. Meets in the living room of the Foundation

Tuesday, August 31
Deborah out of the office for sermon prep and study
7 pm — Faces of Faith (Group 2) — A small group for first-year undergrads, led by Emily Gorman (efg2bj) and Aaron Stiles (aws6z). We are offering three different sessions so that you may find one that fits your schedule. Meets in the living room of the Foundation.

8:30 pm — Methodists with Muscles — Intramural sports and sports-focused faith based discussion. Meet in the game room of the Foundation, and bring a student ID to swipe into the gym.

Wednesday, September 1
8 pm — Faces of Faith — Faces of Faith (Group 3) — A small group for first-year undergrads, led by Nina Ruhter (nwr2e) and Matt Henderson (mch8tf). We are offering three different sessions so that you may find one that fits your schedule. Meets in the living room of the Foundation.
Thursday, September 2
6 pm — FREE homemade dinner in the dining room of the Foundation

7 pm — Bible Cranium Forum — Join us for a game of Bible-themed charades! Led by Elizabeth Mathews and Lauren Huff.

AFTER FORUM — MSA Breakfast Sleepover at the Foundation — We’ll be getting up at 2:30 am Friday morning to cook breakfast for the Muslim Student Association, so the Foundation is hosting a sleepover! During the night we’ll be grocery shopping, seeing Alice and Wonderland at the Newcomb Theatre, and possibly watching other movies at the Foundation. There are plenty of rooms in the Foundation, so there will also be quiet places for those who want to study or sleep. Just make sure you bring a sleeping bag and pillow!

Friday, September 3
2:30 am — MSA Breakfast — Join us at 2:30 am as we start cooking breakfast for our friends in the Muslim Student Association! We’ll begin serving breakfast at 4:00 am so that they can begin fasting at 5:00 am!

Saturday, September 4
TBA — Be on the lookout for more info on the first UVA home football game of the season!

9/8 at 6:45 pm — New Testament Bible Study begins — you can pick up your book in the Upper Room (upstairs room by Study Camp) at the Foundation. There is reading to be done before the first meeting, so you might want to start on it this week.
